AFTER DARK SERIES
In 2024, we will continue our evening experiences at Wesselman Woods and Howell Wetlands! Enjoy a night with friends and family during the new “After Dark Series”. This lineup of adult-oriented programs will take place throughout the year and includes these entries into our environmental education programming: Night Owls, Trails at Twilight, and Sips at Sunset.
Each program has its own unique educational elements such as scientific discussions, exploration of nocturnal ecology, and nature trivia. Food, beer, and wine tastings are also on the menu!
The goal of the After Dark Series is to bring people together for a behind the scenes look at the nighttime ecology of largest urban old-growth forest in the United States and one of Indiana’s largest urban wetlands. This series is a great opportunity to meet new people or catch up with old friends while you all learn something new and freshen up your nature knowledge.
Members receive a discount on ticket prices!
All proceeds from each of these events will go directly towards the mission of WW: to preserve and protect Wesselman Woods and Howell Wetlands for future generations through conservation, education, research, and to provide equal access to nature.
Night Owls
The Wesselman Woods Night Owls Series is a platform dedicated to exploring the deep connections between society, culture, ecology, and environment. This series embodies our deep connection to the Earth. It offers practical insights and encourages responsible actions, fostering a deeper understanding of the interrelationships between these interconnected facets of life.
We invite you to embark on a journey of learning, questioning, and reflecting. In 2024, Wesselman Woods is partnering with Tri-State Creation Care to focus on an overarching theme: Religion and Ecology.
Throughout 2024, the Night Owls Series will present a diverse lineup of speakers, each representing a different religious or spiritual pathway. Our aim is to foster a deeper understanding of the various beliefs and practices that shape our community and their relationship with the natural world. By engaging with new perspectives, we hope to bridge divides and cultivate a sense of unity in our shared commitment to environmental stewardship, advocacy, and justice.
In collaboration with Tri-State Creation Care, we have forged a meaningful partnership to ensure the success of this series. Together, we seek to create a space where individuals from all walks of life can come together to explore the interplay between faith, ecological awareness, and sustainable living.
As part of this unique lecture series, we are excited to announce a reciprocal event at each participating religious institution where the team at Wesselman Woods will showcase our efforts to preserve and protect the environment. This reciprocal exchange allows us to share knowledge, build relationships, and strengthen the bond between people, nature, and spirituality.
