GIVING
Sanctuaries Don’t Protect Themselves.
In the heart of Evansville stands something truly rare — an ancient forest that has endured for centuries. Wesselman Woods is a living sanctuary, a refuge for wildlife, a classroom for learners of all ages, and a reminder of what the natural world can be when it’s cared for.
Sanctuaries need caretakers. They need you.
Your generosity keeps this forest standing strong by protecting old-growth trees, nurturing new habitats, and ensuring that every trail, boardwalk, and program continues to connect people with nature.
Our goal is to raise $70,000 by the end of 2025 to sustain the forest’s health, restore vital ecosystems, and inspire the next generation of conservationists. Every dollar makes a difference in protecting this rare urban treasure.
Together, we can keep Wesselman Woods a place where nature and community thrive — today, tomorrow, and for centuries to come.
Give now, and help protect What’s Irreplaceable.
OTHER WAYS TO GIVE
Support exploration and learning!
Consider a unique way to support our mission: by giving from your assets. Donations of stocks, bonds, or other assets can provide significant benefits to both you and our organization.
Tax Benefits: Donating appreciated assets can help you avoid capital gains taxes and receive a charitable deduction.
Impact: Asset donations can significantly amplify your support of our mission to protect this ancient forest and educate the public on the importance of nature.
Ease: The process is straightforward, and we are here to assist you every step of the way.
Examples of Donating from Assets
Donate Appreciated Investments: Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or funds can be more tax-efficient than giving cash. You can generally deduct a portion of the asset’s fair market value and avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a QCD directly from your IRA to a qualified charity. The distribution is excluded from your taxable income and it counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD).
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs): A DAF allows you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to charities over time.
Employer Matching Programs: Many companies offer matching gift programs, where they match the charitable donations made by employees. This can double or your donation’s impact.
Wesselman Woods impacts over 30,000 people a year. Your continued support makes that possible. Your generosity can make a lasting difference!
