The International Crane Foundation returns to Wesselman Woods for a 1-hour presentation about Whooping Cranes and Sandhill Cranes on November 7 from 6-7 PM.
They will share:
how to identify them by sight and sound
the species history and what has contributed to the decline of both species
the recovery of Sandhill Cranes and the Whooping Crane reintroduction efforts
the threats cranes are facing in Indiana and across their flyway…
…and ways that you can all get involved in protecting cranes through volunteer opportunities, citizen science opportunities, safe birding practices, and spreading the word about cranes.
Their programs provide artifacts for master naturalists to engage with and informational handouts for them to take home that help in identifying cranes, safely viewing them, contributing to citizen science, and reporting poaching or harassment of Indiana's cranes.
