After Dark Series

All year-round

New evening experiences are coming to Wesselman Woods and Howell Wetlands! Enjoy a night with friends and family during the new “After Dark Series”. This lineup of adult-oriented programs will take place throughout the year and includes new entries into our environmental education programming: Night Owls, Trails at Twilight, and Sips at Sunset.

MAple Sugarbush Festival

First Saturday and Sunday in March

Find out what's cooking in the Maple Sugar Shack and indulge in an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. There will be guided hikes into our very own sugarbush, fun and educational activities for kids, and animal encounters. All proceeds will benefit the ongoing work of Wesselman Woods.

EARTH DAY

Late April

We are so fortunate to have the largest tract of urban old-growth forest right here in Evansville. You can share the good news about this ecological and cultural treasure by joining us at Wesselman Woods to celebrate all things EARTH! Each year on Earth Day, we have a full day of events lined up to celebrate nature and all of its beauty. You can join us for guided hikes, animal encounters, community partners, educational programs and guided activities.

ART EXHIBITION

Calling all artists! Wesselman Woods will host our second annual juried community art contest. Art submitted for this contest should reflect aspects of nature within the Ohio River Valley bioregion. Our bioregion hosts a wide variety of flora and fauna as well as a variety of socio-cultural, ecological, and environmental issues; any of these topics can be represented or addressed with the artwork.

This contest provides an opportunity for members of the community to showcase what they love or what they are concerned about within our bioregion through a visual medium.

WANDERING OWL

Mid-October

Each year, Wesselman Woods brings the community together for the Wandering Owl Twilight Tasting. This autumnal celebration gives us the opportunity to appreciate this cultural and natural treasure in Evansville while savoring great food, beer, and wine in our Nature Playscape and Bird Sanctuary. Guests can also enjoy special encounters with our resident wildlife.

All proceeds from this event help fund our future projects and programming so raise a glass with us each October!
