Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2, 2025


Our most enduring spring celebration gives our community the opportunity to enjoy fresh pancakes and Indiana syrup before wandering through the largest urban old-growth forest in the United States. Learn about maple tapping and its history, the science of sap in our brand-new Sugar Shack, and how sap production is an important part of forest ecology!

Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, two sausage links, and your choice of unlimited coffee, orange juice, chocolate milk, or white milk! Extra sausage links can be purchased on the day of the event (2 for $1).

Compostable plates, cutlery and cups will be provided but, each year, we also offer a green incentive: Bring your own reusable cup, plate or fork and GET A FREE DAY PASS to Wesselman Woods and the Welborn Baptist Foundation Nature Playscape.


Get your tickets early to reserve your preferred time!*

Tickets will still be sold at the door but seating will be limited. Priority will be given to those with pre-purchased tickets.

  • Wesselman Woods will be CLOSED on Friday, February 28, to prepare for the big event. We will only be open to the public during event hours on March 2-3 (7 AM to 1 PM) and all guests must pay event admission, whether they eat breakfast or not.

Evansville Forest Alliance: Fall Kickoff

November 2024 Kickoff Planting

November 2, 2024 beginning at 9 AM outside of the Tepe Park Clubhouse, located at 1212 S. Garvin Street in Evansville.

Members of the EFA will give brief welcome addresses before City Arborist Shawn Dickerson demonstrates how to properly plant and care for a newly-planted tree. Following this demonstration, volunteers and area residents will break off and use these new skills to plant 18 trees in Tepe Park and 11 more trees in Goosetown Park.

This event is open to the public and all Evansville community members are invited to take part! Join us as we begin the work of planting trees in underserved neighborhoods like Tepe Park and Goosetown.

A second planting session will take place in the Spring of 2025.

Nature's Greatest Sight: Festival for Total Eclipse

JOIN US FOR NATURE’S GREATEST SIGHT: THE 2024 TOTAL ECLIPSE!

Monday, April 8, 2024 beginning at 11 AM

Event Mission: To bring together diverse communities in a safe space to enjoy nature's greatest sight as well as food, performances, and music. Commune with the eclipse; enjoy as one.

  • Located on the former “Par 3” golf course in Wesselman Park

  • Festival begins at 11 AM

  • Hard stop on all festival activities at 1:45 PM to prepare for 2:00 PM total eclipse

  • Partial phase of the eclipse will last about an hour and the total eclipse will last 3-4 minutes.

You are invited to witness the total solar eclipse happening on Monday, April 8th, 2024 at the former “Par 3” Golf Course in Wesselman Park. The festival will begin at 11 AM and it will feature activities, musical performances, food trucks, and more!

COME PREPARED!

  • Don’t forget your safety eyewear and sunscreen! We will have a limited number of eclipse glasses for sale.

  • Internet signal and cell phone strength may be shaky! Come prepared to make purchases with cash, just in case.

  • Make sure to arrive early to secure a parking space in the former Robert’s Stadium parking lot.

    • The Boeke Road entrance to Wesselman Park parking will be CLOSED with limited space inside the park reserved for volunteers, entertainment, and food trucks.

  • Feel free to bring along your picnic blankets and chairs. You can pack a lunch, too!

  • Food trucks will be available. See the list below.

  • We kindly ask that if you pack it in, please pack it out. Which means, please take all your items and all of your trash with you – let's leave the area as beautiful as we found it!
